Pascagoula -- The sixth annual Singing River Classic will be one of those games that will always be remembered -- and the game isn't even completed yet. The finish of the river rivalry showdown between Pascagoula and Gautier was postponed Friday night with 4:39 remaining in the game when a transformer blew, knocking out half of the lights at War Memorial Stadium. The Panthers led 21-14 after storming back from an early 14-0 deficit. No decision was made Friday night as to when the game would be completed. The transformer blew around 10:15 p.m. on the Gautier side of the field in the northwest corner of the stadium, sending out a flurry of bright sparks. After about a 35-minute delay, school officials decided to finish the game at a later day. Gautier quarterback Travonta Thomas helped the Gators jump out to a quick 14-0 lead with a pair of touchdown passes to Tony Mitchell. He connected with Mitchell for a 13-yard scoring pass in the first quarter and Kyle Kimbrell added the extra point for a 7-0 victory. In the second quarter, Thomas and Mitchell hooked up for a 4-yard score. Jerrell Dallas engineered the Panthers' rally. He tossed a touchdown pass to Antone Thornton in the second period, then rushed 1-yard in the third period to tie the score 14-14. Eric Wills scored the go-ahead touchdown on a 2-yard run. Travis Bradley kicked the three PATs for Pascagoula.
